The 2008 Infinity SUVS have a clear coat that contains a synthetic resin that when activated by the warm sunlight the resin will flow into its surface wounds and heal its scratches..The self healing resin will repair a scratch in 1 to 7 days depending on the depth of the scratch..

I wonder if in the next 10 years we will all be driving cars that will have a resin that can clean the outside of the car also Smiley

Where did you read that? If paint becomes "soft" it becomes vulnerable to damage when in this "liquid" state as well. I seriously doubt anyone would make a paint that got soft in the sun.

nissan started developing this finish on the 2nd or 3rd year 350z's. They couldnt produce it cheap enough at the time, but they obviously have it fixed up for their expensive cars. I wonder how it works in cold weather.

Looks like it made the news 3 years ago: http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/NEWS/2005/_STORY/051202-01-e.html

You can google up several news articles reporting on this at about the same time (Dec '05).

It made the news, but it wasn't in production yet.  They're actually using it now.

Works in warm sunlight?  Great, just have to wait until May here in Seattle for scratches to fix themselves.  How about a variant that works when it is cold and rainy and cloudy?

Sun Lamps???

Move??

Yeah, I remember the beautiful weather in Charleston, came straight out here from there.  Not to worry, I can't afford an Infinity SUV, nor do I want an SUV anyway (though I would gladly accept a Cayenne Turbo S if anyone wants to give theirs away)
