We don't have a lot of strict rules here, but we do have a few that apply across all sections:

Introduce yourself
Why not start with a post in the Welcome area and introduce yourself.  Let us know who you are, where your from and something about your car.  We are a pleasant but nosy bunch and want to make new friends.

No personal attacks
We know conversations can get pretty heated. People will disagree every day. Sometimes pretty strongly. But lets keep the debates about the subject of the discussion and not make it about the person discussing it. Just because you don't like the message doesn't mean you can shoot the messenger.

No profanity
We do not appreciate foul language. Disguising it by putting a xx or ** or anything else in the word rather than spelling it out completely doesn't make it acceptable.  Using an abbreviation for the phrase doesn't make it acceptable either. The easiest rule is: would you say the word or the phrase in front of your 3 year old kid or 70 year old Grandmother??  If not, don't post it here.  Multiple posts that break this rule will cause the posts to be deleted.

No advertising
If you're running a business, please contact us about becoming a sponsor. If you are a sponsor, you may not advertise here.

For Sale Ads
Please read the rules in the FS area before you post an ad.  Ads not complying with the rules will be deleted.

No cross-posting or changing thread titles
Please don't post the same thread in more than one area of the forum.  There is nothing to be gained by this and it just causes different answers to appear in different areas.  Please don't change the title of a thread.  If the thread topic changes start a new thread.  If you change the title it makes it hard for people following the thread to know it's still the same thread.

In general we would prefer you not reopen a 6 month old thread to say "Wow great job" or to even ask a question.  In most cases the thread died because there is either nothing more to add to it or because the information is no longer pertinent.  You would be better starting a new thread.

There are other things that might also cause posts to be deleted as well. For example, if you create a "fake quote" (its easy to do and everyone knows how), it will be deleted. If you spam the site, it will be deleted. If you post a link to another forum that requires you to register to read it, it will be deleted. We can't possibly anticipate every possible type of incident, but in general, this is a pretty easy going site, and we allow a lot of leeway before we step in.

The moderators and the administrator decide what threads get locked and what threads get deleted not the people who post them or don't like what is being said in them.

The forum software will allow you to edit your post for a short period and then will remove the edit function.  This is to prevent issues from someone going back and changing what a post says to create issues in the thread.  Read and edit your post before you hit the save button and it won't matter you can't edit it later.

If you have a question about what happened or why,  send a Private Message to the moderators. We will not get into a public discussion about why you were moderated.  If you have a disagreement with a moderator, contact me personally to help resolve it.

Thank you for your help in keeping this forum civil. Smiley
