I recently acquired an MSM that came with a California Pop Top. I have used heavy, bulky whole car covers from California Car Covers (different company) before, but this one just covers the top of the car. It's very handy and keeps the car interior cooler in this murderous Texas heat.
In checking the California Car Covers web site, I see they are selling a similar cockpit cover, too.

I've had one for years from Crazy Red. I hardly ever use it. I find it a pain to bother with. it's a great idea, I guess I'm just too lazy to use it.

I too have one from Crazy Red, and used it quite often for a few years. However, I think that I've only used it 3-4 times over the last year 9sits rolled up on a shelf in the garage.

I'm on my second PopTop - I use it in the company parking lot everyday that it is to be over 90 degrees. I roll both windows down 1/3 then put the cockpit cover on. Rain has never gotten into the car in 7 years. AND it is worth the time to install and then stuff into the corner of the trunk, when the A/C is cold by the time back out of my spot.

One day it got covered (really covered) by a flock of droppings. Threw it into the washer, it took all the treatment out of the material, when dried, it was like cheesecloth.

I recently used my Pop Top for another purpose. Before treating the top with RaggTop, I lifted the top and put the Pop Top under it, draping it over the side windows and windscreen, protecting them from overspray. Now to figure out something for that back window...

I got one from the original owner... don't know the brand, but works great keeping the Texas sun off the interior.
great tip - DON'T WASH.

I think I am going to get one for the summer...and just leave the soft top down all the time and use the pop top. That way I can just leave the boot cover on all of the time too. If there is nothing to steal, someone can take the cover off and rummage through it and at worst steal the cover or vandalize the interior, which is unlikely, especially because its only out on the weekend. And if someone steal the car, I have insurance and get another one...I just hate dealing the boot cover for short trips but I dont want the top in the sun...its quite the perdicament.
So I think pop top is the solution...until I get lazy with that.

Have had one for about 3 years. Use it regularly - works for what it is. I like it because it's light and can be rolled/folded up small. Just wish mine was some other color than white.
