Just updated the Head Unit and doorspeakers. Its a must do. I installed the Alpine CDA-9885. The Ipod feature is great and alot better than the aux-mod. Im seeling mine by the way if someone wants it. Also installed Alpine SPR-17S components. Next will be the bass.
Im thinking of taking out the spare tire and spraying the trunk with some type bedliner spray to clean it up and keep things from rattling and then placing a box in the spare tire space. Ill prob go with some sort of JL 10.

I'm diggin' the 9887 in my MSM too. I'm stilling thinking of how I want to handle the bass. I have two JL 6W0's I'll be using, not sure about location or enclosure. Zapco amps will go in the trunk.

So how bad is the labor on this? Did you do it yourself or have a shop do it?

Audio is probably the part of the car I am most clueless about. I really want some new sound in my car but don't want to spend too much that I could be putting into performance.

How much do you want for the aux mod? I may use that to hold me over for a while. I HATE not having my ipod in the car.

If your electrically inclined at all the Bosetcomy and headunit/speaker installation isn't that bad. If you've never touched a multimeter, you might consider getting a shop (or friend) to do it.

I have 3 suggestions:

1- the passenger footwell
2- the rear bulkhead (The hakuna method. Discussed on miata.net)
3- incorporated into the windblocker with a custom enclosure.

I'm thinking about something like 2 or 3. I had a MDF enclosure in my last Miata with some 4" mids and tweets. Sounded sweet, but looked pretty stupid with the top down. I have a mess of fiberglass and resin that's just getting old in the garage.

Sorry it took so long to respond, I'm not on much during the weekend. If you still have the aux mod, I'll take it for $30.

Yeah, I think I'll get a shop to do it when the time comes. Just need to get the car where I want it performance-wise first. Oh, did you get an amp or is that not needed anymore?

For now I'm just using the onboard amps on my Alpine and it sounds fine, better than the Bose amps anyway.
