I read this FAQ which is great. http://www.mazda-speed.com/forum2/index.php/topic,6619.0.html

I plan to do this by myself so my question is instead of using a funnel and piping, can I fill 1.9q of the transmission oil through the shifter turret from inside the car after the old oil is completely drained out and drain plug re-installed?

"Search" is your friend. "turret oil" would have taken you directly to the answer instead of waiting for someone to post.

Yes, you can fill your transmission with transmission fluid through the shifter turret. Our 6 speeds shifters are lubricated through a splash method with tranny oil. There is no recivior for shifter oil.

Just remember to drain your transmission properly through the correct drain bolt and you should be set.

Maybe he didn't search, but at least this can help for future lurkers as well.

Also lets face it: our cars are so mature and every mod conceivable has already been done and posted that if we all used the search function first instead of asking this forum probably would have died a few years ago.  Smiley
