Between a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X592 or Pioneer DEH-3000IB.

Both units are available for $79 used at a local shop (mint condition on both) and they can install it all for me with iPod hookup just not sure which unit to go with.

Any input? Running stock speakers and tweeters but the windblocker set is out.

Erm... you'll have to get new speakers and bypass the Bose amp if you put a new headunit in.  Lots of fun rewiring to do.  Tell the shop that the speakers currently in the doors are made for 1/2 ohm power, see what they say needs to be done to get one of the new HU's to work.

Just a thought here but I wonder if the stock Bose amp can be wired somehow to run like a line level input? That way, you would be able to run an aftermarket headunit, and just have the line level come in from amp. You wouldn't have to rewire anything and could use all the stock components! The only thing I would recommend is the Clearwater speaker upgrade. I got it and wow, what a difference. Wait till you get that fancy "Bose" speaker out of the door and see that it's a crappy paper cone with a magnet the size of a refridgerator magnet! The only cool thing about it is that wierd cone thing over top of it which I guess acts like an enclosure for the bass. The stock tweeters, by the way, are even crappier and probably cost some factory in Taiwain about 2 cents to make. It's literally less then radio shack quality!
