10" wheels with 275s a6s, 9s will work without flares but 10s do it better. And then weight reduction and then more power.

I don't know how many runs you typically make a year but our 2nd set of Hoosiers now are a year old and have 115 runs on them. Rotating them around often. Also a good thing about 10s, since we switched over 9s, we aren't cording the corners at 75-80 runs. Essentially 40 extra runs per set. A couple weeks ago we tested then 80 run tires against tires with less than 20 runs and had no noticeable difference. We have 3 drivers in the car currently. 2 open and 1 ladies.

Im so relieved to finally hear how many runs i can expect instead of guessing. If I dont do x runs we have roughly 48 in a season. So even without 10's I can make it on one set. Pick up any speed with 10's? Also I hear the first 8 runs are the best then stable until heat cycling or cording. Any truth to that? Woofster can you weigh in on your wear?

I usually get 90 runs on a set before I consider ordering new.  I definitely want to move to 10" rims.  The offset is better and the tread width increase is substantial.  Those flares might find their way onto my to do list (Fiberglass or CF is the question).  Smiley

I can't say for certain that we did pick up speed on the 10s but I can't imagine that we did NOT pick up any speed.

To be fair on sticker tires, the last set we threw on the backup car at Nationals, on less spring rate and smaller front bar, so can't really tell you definitively about that either.  At the Summer Nationals we will probably run some stickers if we end up with enough cars to have a chance to win contingency.

edit: your surface is a huge factor on the number of runs you will get.  Generally sealed asphalt is less abrasive than old concrete.

Another race weekend another trophy.  Smiley

I had the time off so I decided to also sign up for the practice. Getting the seat time really helped although it was a rather unique course. Most people complained (me included) that it was too open with too many 25-60 acceleration zones. Racing at El Toro with CSCC we are lucky enough to have vast spaces and when a corvette club hosts well you get the idea. I realize a courses with an average speed of 47 mph at a peak of 70 would be relished elsewhere but this was pretty biased towards high HP cars. I use STR as a goal as im on street tires. Endicott and Hayter's average times in the mid 82's were my best. They amazingly got down to 81.5. Sunday Champ day was even better. Being in the cal club region does it have its benefits of stiff competition, that said -3 seconds for slicks would have won me PAX.

Video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC5gWrgmfAI

Below are RAW times
My best time CST 76.153 (2nd place was 76.471)
Best STR Max Hayter 75.160
Best STX Steve O'blenes 75.107
Best STC Steven Yeoh 76.156
Best SS   Steve Abbot 72.682

So I have worked out the solution for a big rear wing.  Azn

but it was too low to go down this tiny dip....  what are others leaving for a gap? im at about 1.5 inches

I'm not sure that will provide enough DF to override the big wing.  Your preventing the air from going under the car but your not providing a surface sticking out for the air to push down on.

Then again I'm not an aero engineer so what do I know! laugh

This is the splitter/front end on the wife's M3 track car to help counter the wing on the car.

BTW, i thought the wing on the M3 was a big wing until Joe showed up at the track with his COT wing on the MSM!   laugh laugh laugh laugh

Thanks. but i cant do that in my class. im limited by "the spoiler or air dam cannot extend farther than the front bumper" I should get some reduced lift as noted by the miataturbo guys cfd. worst case ill just up the rear suspension and balance the car out. (= more oopo)

What about a splitter like Edens and FrankL are using?

mmm  well im not convinced about the design plus its more $$. I cant see how a splitter can work without protruding in front of the bumper.

Since it's dropped below the bumper and has what appears to be enough surface it would seem to be creating downforce.  Didn't look to sit much lower than your design (both designs seem a bit problematic to ever drive on the street; I can barely navigate my own driveway without scraping the front fascia at my current ride height so anything lower would be impractical unless I only trailered the car).   Cry

Flat Shift is AWESOME  cheesy

In testing it dropped .412 to 60 mph. with more careful tuning i dropped the 2-3 shift by .271 alone. The time from the start of the shift to adding 1 mph more dropped .229 seconds. This alone will easily take .5 seconds off every autox time. I may finally catch up to the STR national champion cars which have been my street tire target. (although i wish i had the 245).

Running full e85. 10% more hp as advertised. so far I have used 1/2 a tank so the MPG is as advertised as well. with the 550's im maxing out at 75% duty cycle. We will see how it holds up over the race weekend. Thus far all I have done is plugged the sensor into feed fuel line, and electrically into the hydra, and massaged the aux trim and ignition maps. If it makes it through the weekend I can finally say that 550's, stock fuel pump and stock turbo at 10-11psi work with e85 without maxing out the injectors and for the short term the stock fuel system can survive.

Big weekend coming up. 3 days, 2 racing and my first chief position! Its cal Clubs Super Regional, Saturdays course will be run backwards on sunday with both times being added together. aahhh yeaa. E85, Flat shift, Front air dam and a rear shock adjustment all dialed in dominate.

http://youtu.be/gnXq2ghleOc?t=11s second day. 69.123

Second place by .264 seconds, would have won had I not spun on the third run. Great weekend. Motenishi put the hurt on str and beat lugod and peters. amazing!

I ran e85 on all the stock gear sans fuel injectors so all the voodoo hype has so far been unfounded.
