Kinda wanted this for a while, just as a novelty. I would replace the cigarette lighter with an s2000 style button.
Hard to do? Still able to start with key manually? Able to start with no key? (Assume not)
Just wanting to spruce the interior up a bit. I don't so much care for the "functionality" of it but I can't just put one there and not wire it up lol

If you don't have the OEM computer and therefore no immobilizer, you can can ditch the key and use a toggle switch and a pair of SPDT relays with the button. You will still need to use a shaved key in the ignition to get around the steering wheel lock. You do lose the security of the key so you will want to consider an alarm or something like a hidden kill switch to help with that so nobody steals the darn thing without going through at least a little effort. To me, it seems silly to have a key AND a start button.

A local friend did this on an NA, and I believe it wasn't possible to eliminate needing the key. The s2000 work the same way as well I believe, requiring the key to be in the ignition before the start button works.

Sounds like you talked me out of it . I garage store the car but being a convertible it's already easy to get into. I don't want it so easy to drive off with in case I have to leave the car parked somewhere.

I had this in my '01 installed by the PO. However, he put it in the hazard button location. He then wired the hazard flashers to a dummy AC switch (the car didn't have AC). Looked completely stock. It was kind of a novelty for a bit, and cool when showing off the car. The only down side was during the safety inspections the mechanic would always ask where the hazard button was located.
