Hello to the Forum with my first FAQ post.

One of my first mod/improvements to my MSM was to change out the plastic shifter ring bushing from the stock plastic one to the nice brass one from 5x Racing.  Just bought the car, was doing a complete fluids changes (engine, trans, diff) at the same time, so didn't mind the extra steps to take apart stuff.
Not usre if the 2005-6 trans bushing is up on their website yet, I got one of the first ones:
http://5xracing.com/i-15909791-5x-racing-mazda-miata-bronze-shifter-bushing.html

They have a really nice complete kit for both rubber boots, both delrin pieces, and both wave springs, as well as the nice bronze piece, if you do a full shifter rebuild like I did.

They have great instructions here:
http://5xracing.com/files/Instructions%20and%20Guides/nb-miata-shifter-rebuild-guide.pdf

Don't be afraid to push out one of the shifter guide pins, I was afraid at first, but surprised how loose the press fit was.  Got it moved back to change the lower plastic ring and wave spring no problem, and then pushed back in place after install as well.

Parts:

On an MSM, a bunch of stuff will come off the bottom for a trans fluids change

Don't forget to clean the most likely dirty magnetic trans drain plug, it keeps your gears happy...

This forum uses a very old forum software and we are small enough that upgrading isn't worth the cost.  One of the difficulties with this is the way photos are linked.  Here is a FAQ on posting photos.  Please note, we strongly prefer you use our gallery to host your photos so we don't end up with a bunch of broken photo links down the road.

Also, your link above is for the early 6 speed.  The MSM has the NBB 2001+ units.   afro
