How I shoe-horn a 12" sub into my trunk

I tried the tiny stealth box with a long throw 10" woofer in it. The motor came unglued from the cone, and so did I.

So I ripped out the stealth box, and used it as a stencil. I cut a nice piece of hardwood plywood into its shape, and the hole for my old 12" woofer. Then, I stuffed that piece of wood over where the old stealth box was. Then, took a roll of Dynomat like stuff (adhesive backed) and lined it around the box to atleast seal it off from the front. Insert woofer, hook up, done. Using the fender well as sort of a ported box. Would probably be even better if I dynomat the entire inside of the fender but its plenty good enough. Feels like an earthquake in the car again, and I still have all my space.

It did hit a lot harder in its old box, have to admit. I may end up lining the fender well in fiberglass so I can seal it up. Only annoyance will be having to pull the woofer out to change the tail light. Not too much harder than moving all that stiff carpet lining.

This is something I really want to do.  I had a 10" in mine but did take up the WHOLE trunk.  Since then I moved to the Good-win racing windblocker setup.  Overall I miss having the deep bass of the single 10".  In theory the four 6.5" subs may move more air but for the type of my of music I listen to it does not hit the frequencies I want.  This might be a good project to try out this weekend.  Thanks for the idea!
