Greetings everyone,

Funny story, kinda. I bought my MSM in April of 2015 and figured the "stock" BOSE doesn't sound so bad, I was actually happy with it.

Recently, both right door speakers started to make a constant popping sound the moment key was in the ignition and the radio had power. The only way to make the “pop” go away was to remove the fuse for the BOSE amplificator in the car. Turning the radio ON or OFF had no impact.

I removed the right door panel, inspected the speakers and surprise (!), I have the the Clearwater model CWC-8B upgrade installed by the PO, everything else is stock OEM BOSE. Interestingly, after disconnecting the Clearwater module from the OEM harness I was able to stop the popping sound. Disconnecting the tweeter only left the main speaker with the constant pop.

The other side (driver) works fine. Anyone had similar issues?

I contacted CW, hope we can work something out, they did sound great.

Swap them sid to side and see if the problem switches sides or not.  Could be amplifier and not speakers.

Thanks for the suggestion, I did try that to no avail.: one side of CW system is defective. I left it out from the previous post to keep it short.

So far, CW is not very cooperative.

Okay you lost me

If you swapped them side to side and it still does it on the same side?  Then it's not the Clearwater but the Bose amp that is likely the problem.

Sorry, to clarify: The CW kit comes in two "parts" each consists of two speakers wired to a control unit plugged into the OEM harness in the door. Passenger side is defective, I switched the whole assembly from the passenger side to the driver side and then the driver side did not work but the passenger side did. Switching the speakers around is consistent with one set being defective.

Well, CW thinks the BOSE amplifier the culprit. I think I'm just going to rip all this out in the winter (Bosectomy) and replace with modern components with such luxurious features as bluetooth and ability to play MP3s.   Shocked
