I just finished installing the Thompson Oil Filter Relo kit and since I had the car up on jackstands,
I thought I'd do a How To / Info on jackpoints.

Below is a picture of the undercarriage (thanks to FM).

The small circle to the left is the differential.   The large circle to the right is the
front cross member.   The four arrows point to the approximate locations of the
jack points.

A closeup of the front cross member.  The circle is the location where the floorjack head
lifts the front of the car up.   Make sure the parking brake is engaged & rear wheels are chocked!
I turn my wheels to the left and then insert my floor jack behind the right front wheel, jack head under the
center of the cross member and pump away.  I lift the front up first, place jackstands behind the front wheels,
and then lift the back end.

This is the differential and the location of where the floorjack head lifts the rear of the car up

Behind the front wheel wells and in front of the rear wheel wells, there are notched jack point
tabs that are used by the scissor jacks (came with the car) to lift the car.

I personally use the ridged/grooved area inboard of the notched tabs.

Closeup of the jackstand

Car on jackstands, no shoes, looking from front to rear

Looking from rear to front

Once the car is up, I lay a wheel behind each of the front jackstands....just in case.

Hope this helps if you're thinking of putting your car on jackstands and know that you're doing this at your
own risk.  These tips and pics are for information only...yadda, yadda, yadda.

Does the pinch weld not hang down far enough to turn the jacks so that all of the weight of the car is supported on "lines" rather than "points"?  Sorry, I haven't put the MSM in the air yet.

It does, but the shape of most jack stands isn't ideal for that placement.
