I'm good for now, but wondering if the Hawk HP+ pads will stop it any faster. I've used them before with great results, but not on a car this new (meaning with brakes this good to begin with).

I'm a big fan of the HP+s as well..  ran them on my 7, and ran HPStreets on the Protege..

Unfortunately, at the moment, neither are availble for the 01+ large miata brakes.  They're "in development" I beleive...

So for the time being, I'm enjoying my clean wheels and wearing down the stock pads..

MAZDA MIATA MX-5 - sport / hard suspension - 2004

Part Name Hawk Part No. FMSI No. Pad Thickness
Brake Lining/Friction, Rear HB442 D891 .496
Brake Lining/Friction, Front HB468 D1002 .492

The HPS pads are available, the HP+ pads are not AFAIK. Also, I think the MSM comes with special Mazdaspeed pads stock. I think they compare quite nicely to HPS pads I've had in the past.

Cool. Thanks otra Erics. I'll wait for the HP+s before I go trying to change anything. Meanwhile, I'm pretty pleased with the braking on the car. The car weighs (roughly) the same as my wife's MINI Cooper S, but stops much better, even with her HP+s.

Tire Rack is listing the HP+ rear pads as available for the MSM now also. Don't see them on Hawk's site yet though.
