Has anyone actually installed this module? Thoughts?

Yep....installed the Sirius add-on two weekends ago. Hardest part of the install was getting the radio unit out but just takes a little patience. The rest is plug and play. Only thing I did not care for was the antenna which is a tad bit larger than other units. And by the way - you dont have to follow the instructions (which are somewhat lacking but its not that tough to figure out) as to locating the antenna on the rear deck lid. Mine went elsewhere and works fine.
For my tastes - I prefer XM but Sirius have some ok choices - each to their own........Roger

Hmm.. where did you end up putting the antenna? Does it work top down AND up? There is a smaller antenna you can buy from terk.

I had the Terk antenna on my 2000 - lower profile and smaller cross-section.
I mounted previous and current between the windshield and top in the center. Works fine - shorter and less annoying wiring run........Roger

it cost me $302. for the unit complete with installation kit and everything else you need for the install. It was pretty easy to do and it took approx 2-hrs.

How ( honestly ) is the sound quality in this car with the satellite radio vs the radio?
I know sat radio will sound better but I can't justify adding it without modifying this car's sound system...It's flat out awful if you ask me.
My previous car was an SVT Focus with the audiophile set up and for a stock system, it's almost perfect, but this car....ick!!
I'd consider SR if the sound improves over radio ( similar to CD I hope ) but if it's not "night and day" I'll probably start with the rest of the system first.

The sound quality is as close to CD as you can get. No static on reception and sounds better than systems using a FM modulator. I think Mazda dealerships are suppose to have a system setup on display for people to listen to. Hope this helps ...
