So I went to get my MSM aligned today. I gave them my specs (a hybrid of Miq and Lanny's numbers) and dropped the car off. They refused to let me sit in the car for the usual legal BS and he tried to convince me that his computer compensated for the drivers weight. Anyway, they were not able to get nearly the amount of negative camber I had asked for, in the front or in the back. In the back, he said that he would have had to run so much toe in to get more than -1 that the tires would have been shredded. Has anyone else had a problem with this? Could he have made a mistake? Seems like people are getting -1.7 to -2.0 in the back, no problem. It seems unlikely that the difference could have the fact that I wasn't in the drivers seat. I might believe that added weight changes it .1 or so but not .7 Any suggestions are appreciated. The numbers are like this:

Any input would be appreciated.

I went with these numbers and I am quite happy with the results

Camber L/-1.0 R/-1.0
Caster L/6.0 R/6.0
Toe L/-0.01in R/-0.01in


Camber L/-1.5 R/-1.5
Toe L/0.04in R/0.04in

Did you really want to have toe out on the front? Some people like it for fast turn-in, and others who run the track have toe-in for better tracking. I went basically 0 toe on front and do not find the steering "twitchie", it doesn't wander at all. I did max the caster at 6 for higher speeds

Toe out is more of an advantage on the autox course than the track. At high speeds, smoothness and stability are more important than absolute turn-in capabilities. In a tight auto-x course, I think a little toe out can help. What I just can't understand though is why they were unable to get more than -1 camber in the rear. Anyone know if there is some "trick" to doing this?

   I haven't had mine aligned yet, so I can't offer first hand knowledge. Looking at your final numbers though, I wouldn't trust that shop to do everything necessary to reach your requested specs.
