Can the MSM keyless entry programming be changed?  It's the most screwed up programming I've encountered.  When I turn off the alarm and open the doors, then get in the trunk, if I'm not fast enough, the car doors relock and the alarm resets.  Then I slam the trunk lid and the alarm goes off.

Yesterday the doors were unlocked and I accidently hit the unlock on my remote switchblade key. After the timeout, the doors locked.  What was the Mazda engineer smoking?

When I hit the unlock on the key only the driver's door unlocks.  I have to hit it several times to unlock the passenger door.
With my Jeep, at least the dealer can set the keyless entry to the customer's preference.

From the owners manual

Unlock button
To unlock the driver's door, press the
unlock button and the hazard warning
lights will flash twice.
To unlock all the doors, press the unlock
button again within 5 seconds and the
hazard warning lights will flash twice.
NOTE
After unlocking with the transmitter, all
doors will automatically lock if one of
the doors is not opened within about 30
seconds.

Can't change the programming.

If you don't have an operators manual you can find them online here:

Thanks, I knew about the relocking...it is annoying and a "feature" Mazda should allow owners to change.  I also don't like having to press the remote twice to unlock the passenger door.  I was hoping there was a trick to change those "features".

Thanks for the link to the owners manuals.

I always thought it was a cheap alarm system, not sure.

Rick

You can re-wire the passenger-actuator to run through the driver`s door actuator,
I would recommend a relay in between
(if the head-unit isn`t made to let out more power than for one single actuator)

Now you only need to press one time, and you may use the 2 time outlet on something else...

I have not seen the wiring, or headunit on this one, but on others,
and maybe someone can confirm this would work on this one?

(If the 2-press function also tries to open driver door a second time,
it will of course try to open both doors the second time in my example...)

If the trunk is unlocked with one press (if not, you can make it, like the pass. door)
...you can make it pop up with second press..
(...or make it run the windows down)   Smiley

I just discovered the alarm beeps 4 times when it is armed and you close or open the hood.

Neat.

I'm pretty sure when the alarm beeps 4 times, it means the system was compromised, such as somebody trying to get in.  The alarm also has a shock sensor so if the car is locked / alarm set and you slam the hood and trunk, the alarm goes off.  When you then unlock the car, you'll get 4 beeps.

yeah, the 4 beep notification it gives you is pretty cool. kinda lets you know if someone has tampered with the car.

It also beeps when 4 times if you try opening the hood when it is engaged. not just afterwards when you go to unlock your car. now if i could just figure out how to make windows go down and the top back with the remote...
