Vin number decoding.

I washed the Vin 2005 Vin Number data through Excel and sorted the dat by vin #. There seem to be only 11 different Vinvarieties.

JM1NB354050411113 for example the 0 ( zero ) seems to be the only digit that changes. They range from 0-X. And of course the last 5 digits change. I am assuming they refer to the production run, but could be reffering to something more. Does this help this thread?

Mine has a '9' and is a MIca Black w/ Cloth top

Mine is 3837 VIN, car number #1119, built on 11/15/2004. It is Velocity Red Mica one of 255, the lowest production color of the 1428 '05's in total. Remember, the plant burned down just sfter that number.....mine's perfect in every detail...runs like a Rolex.

Titanium Grey Metallic '05 MSM #91/1428

« Reply #54 on: February 15, 2008, 06:51:14 PM »

mine is #91 of 1428 born on 8/18/2004.  I think this was the first day of production for the '05 MSMs.  Now resides in Pa!

How about a commemorative plaque for our production numbers.  A lot of other manufacturers do this,  ie. Volkswagon with the 2008 R32's have their plaques (only 5000 produced).  Anyone heard of anything like this for our cars?

Whoa - just checked out the Prod. Number file - mine is an 04 VR, Built on Jan 28th 2004 - apparently the first day of production for the MSMs, it is Production # 16, and appears to have the 2nd to lowest VIN (the last 5 digits) of any of those listed.  Did I win anything?  LOL     Trax53

#1370 born on 03/09/2004. Same as my birthday lol.

Edit* Oh, btw guys the number 8th from the right in a vin number always signifies the year it was built. Well, it has since after 2000, i'm not positive if it was like that back in the '90s and '80s etc.
