What would be cool is if we could get some sort of certification from mazda as to the rarity and your production number. And not just within the 2 years but also within your particular color as well.
As for the color list, I'm pretty sure Mazda had a count but doesn't have a by VIN list for the colors.
See the following thread for the 05 numbers by color: http://www.mazda-speed.com/forum2/index.php/topic,14394.0.html(but SMR is correct AFAIK about no VIN list for colors) Red is the most common in both years. -h
Actually, Velocity Red is the most rare color for 05, with Tit. Gray the second most rare in 05. Numbers specifically for 05 are in the thread linked above. The total numbers for the 2 years combined, if an even 2k/2k split in 04 is true, are: 394 Lava Orange 413 Black Mica 2255 Velocity Red 2366 Titanium Gray

no idea. it may even be a US one imported to Canada. Random fact(?): All regular NB's start with VIN JM1NB353xxxx while MSM's start with VIN JM1NB354xxxx I found this helpful when MSM hunting.

are the build numbers marked on the cars anywhere? My car is Canadian so this list is useless to me and without a build number, I can't register on the registry.

"BLAZE" was built 6 days after my 39th birthday on 9/29/2004, and he's # 584 of 1400. I've put 85k miles on him in the last 4.7 years and have enjoyed every minute! Jimbo

Different numbers here in Australia - we got an extra color (Sunlight Silver) for the '04 model and missed out on the LO for the '05.
Here's the list for Mazdaspeed down under for those who are curious:
Sunlight Silver 133 Black Mica 13 Titanium Grey 146 Velocity Red 200
For a total of 492
